First friendships. Small discoveries. English through play.
At Riverside, children aged 3–6 play, explore and learn to communicate in Russian and English. Small groups, attentive teachers and a green campus make room for first friendships, new experiences and the pleasure of discovering something for yourself.
We get to know each child’s interests and familiar routines, help them settle into their group and support growing independence. Stories, creativity, movement, letters and numbers become part of the day, at a pace that reflects their age and readiness.

A familiar face at the door, a favourite song and a game to join. At this stage, we help children feel part of the group and try everyday things with increasing independence.
The emphasis is on participation, curiosity and small steps at the child’s own pace.
“Why does it work like that?” becomes the start of a conversation, a story or a shared investigation. We encourage children to explain ideas, listen to one another and explore possible answers.
In England, Reception is normally for ages 4–5 and belongs to EYFS. We discuss the appropriate Riverside group with each family.
Finishing a small task, explaining an idea and working with a friend are part of becoming ready for a school day. We combine growing independence with practical learning and time to play.
Russian school preparation and the British primary route have different stages. In England, Year 1 normally starts at age 5–6 and is part of Key Stage 1, rather than EYFS. We discuss placement and language readiness individually.
EYFS, England’s framework for early learning and development, provides a reference for our approach. Its seven connected areas help explain the purpose behind everyday activities:
Saying hello, listening to a story or asking for a crayon gives a new word a purpose. Russian and English are used in games, creative activities and everyday routines.
Russian-language development supports conversation, vocabulary, storytelling and preparation for school. English connects with familiar actions, songs, books and shared play. We take account of the child’s experience of both languages.
For example, an autumn activity can bring together observing leaves, comparing colours, counting and making a picture. The same topic gives children reasons to talk and explore in both languages.
During your visit, meet the teachers and discuss the language balance and support in your child’s group.
A green campus in Novogorsk, near Kurkino: room for movement, stories and discoveries. Drawing, building, noticing and playing together help children express ideas and learn to be part of a group.
Our campus also has a swimming pool and tennis court. The activities available to kindergarten children and any additional fees depend on their age and programme.
Familiar routines help children know what comes next. The day brings together a welcome and time to settle, shared play and activities, outdoor movement, meals, rest and quieter creative time.
The sequence and length of activities depend on the group. Before your child starts, we agree attendance hours and discuss meals, rest and any individual needs with you.
Before the first day. Tell us about your child’s interests, familiar routines and experience of being away from home. We agree settling-in arrangements together.
During the first days. Teachers help your child get to know the group, the space and the routine, and gradually join in shared play.
As confidence grows. We discuss what helps your child settle and how to support the next steps. Before joining, agree with the team how you will stay in touch and exchange observations.
We welcome children aged 3–6. We discuss the suitable group with you, taking account of age, readiness and language experience. Places depend on current availability.
Tell us which languages your child uses at home. We will discuss a suitable group and language support. Songs, stories, gestures and familiar routines give children ways to join in at their own pace.
Please discuss this before your child starts. We agree arrangements for the first days with each family, including the parent’s involvement and attendance hours.
Tell us about dietary requirements and your child’s usual rest routine before enrolment. The team will explain the arrangements for the group and confirm which needs can be accommodated.
Availability, age suitability and any additional fees depend on the programme. Ask for a written breakdown of the activities and services included before enrolment.
